The Race Equality Centre is based on the 3rd Floor of Epic House, Lower Hill Street, in Leicester city centre.
You must press button 14 or 15 on the intercom located outside the building in order for one our staff to allow you to gain access to the building. Once inside either take the stairs or lift to floor 3. Press the buzzer located outside the door in order for one of our staff to allow you to gain access to our offices.
The Epic House building is on Lower Hill Street which is located between Charles Street Jobcentre and the Wilkinsons store.
Leicester is on the Midland Main Line and trains run regularly between Leicester and London (takes just over an hour), Derby Nottingham, Sheffield and Coventry. The Station is approximately 1/2 mile from the city centre.
If walking, turn right on leaving the station entrance and cross the road to Granby Street. Continue along Granby Street past the junction with Belvoir Street and pass the junction with Horsefair Street which will bring you to Gallowtree Gate. Continue along Gallowtree Gate until you reach the Clocktower. Proceed past the Clocktower until you arrive at a roundabout. Turn right at the roundabout where you will be in view of Charles Street jobcentre and the Wilkinson store.
We are near a variety of Bus stops (on Charles Street). To check which is the most convenient for you call Traveline on 0871 200 22 33 for public transport information.
As TREC is located near to the Haymarket Shopping Centre, the area is well sign posted by the brown places of interest signs. It is advisable to follow these signs for ease of access.
From the M69, M1 Junction 21 and A47 (Hinckley Road) West of Leicester
Leaving the motorway follow the road signs to the centre of Leicester, along Narborough Road. This is initially a dual carriageway merging after approx. one mile into two way traffic. At the end of Narborough Road turn right onto Hinckley Road (A47) and follow the signs to the City Centre. Follow the signs to the Haymarket Shopping Centre. Parking is available within the shopping centre.
From A46 North of Leicester
Follow the city centre signs proceeding straight over the Belgrave flyover to the roundabout at Belgrave Gate. Take the 2nd exit onto Belgrave Gate and take the 2nd left onto Jubilee Street. Proceed forward onto Byron Street and you will arrive at Lee Street. Lower Hill Street is located directly in front of the car park.
From the A6 South of Leicester
Follow the city centre signs along London Road. Proceed past the train station. At the traffic lights on the junction with Granby Street turn right and follow the road bearing to the left past the Leicester Mercury building and proceed forward to the next roundabout. (St.George’s Roundabout). Take the 2nd left and bearing left follow the road till the next roundabout. Take the 1st left onto Belgrave Gate. Turn left onto Jubilee Street and forward onto Byron Street and you will arrive at the Lee Street. Lower Hill Street is located directly in front of the car park.
From the A47 East of Leicester
Follow the city centre signs along Uppingham Road and proceed towards the city centre. At St. George’s roundabout take the 4th exit and follow the road forward bearing left. Follow the road till the next roundabout. Take the 1st left onto Belgrave Gate. Turn left onto Jubilee Street and forward onto Byron Street and you will arrive at the Lee Street. Lower Hill Street is located directly in front of the car park.
There are various car parks located on Lee Street and limited Blue Badge parking in the immediate vicinity.
